If you have a hard time setting money aside, this is a great little tool to help you save for a special event, a holiday or just to have extra money on hand.

oportun uses plaid to connect with my bank but idk what plaid was when my device alerted plaid was sharing data as part of my banking. i shouldn’t have to use multiple finance apps to save. also the link oportun offers to reconnect with my bank via plaid doesn’t work: i’m sent to my banks sign on to complete 2FA and after that i have to search within my banking app to enable plaid to enable oportun and i don’t know where to find it. the process stole 15 pre ious minutes of my day and i wasn’t able to reconnect my bank. eff that and no thanks

Great way to save

I’m awful at keeping track of my money and could never keep on top of managing my own monthly savings. Oportun’s algorithm is SO great at pulling away little chunks of cash that I hardly ever notice day to day and isn’t nearly as scary as having to set aside one big chunk of my paycheck every two weeks. I often forget it’s there and am pleasantly surprised by how much it’s saved for me. I also love the daily texts to remind me what IS in my checking account. Perfect balance of accountability and hands-off money management!

I really do think this app is great…but i’ve been having issues with transferring from my bank account to my saving goal. I reached out to support and they stated there is a policy that limits the amount of manual transfers but I have multiple incomes coming in at different times, so it would be nice to just transfer whenever I can or at least once every other day to my savings goal. Other than that, i enjoy the apps way of taking little by little towards my nest egg for emergencies! I don’t even have to think about it!!

Very helpful on managing your money! While the banks say they help you with your money, we know that is a lie! They are not like Oportun! They tell you what they are doing with every cent & they tell you where it go.

Digit saved my financial health.

This isn’t a review of the app so much as it is the service. I’ve been with them since it was Digit. They literally changed the way I view money. Don’t get me wrong, they didn’t turn me into a money guru and I still struggle with money, but I have learned a lot. For instance, life is easier when you save money. Even if it’s just a few cents here and there. If you don’t touch it, it starts to add up and that gets exciting. I’ve had to empty out the savings a few times and start over but the fact that I had something to pull from and save my butt made all the difference. When I feel broke and worried I can look at the savings and I feel a little better about my situation. I can’t help but think that if I had done this when I was young and first started working as a teenager I wouldn’t have had the financial troubles I’ve had. I still need Oportun though because the only way I can save is if I don’t have to think about it. Otherwise I’d feel like I didn’t have enough in the bank to afford to save. So, it has to be done in a sneaky kind of way. I never said I was good with money, just that I’ve gotten better at it. 😁

I’ve had this app for many years, but the past 2 years has been the biggest struggle, I ask it to save me $100 by the end of the month and it saves me $50! Why do I need a set goal amount if it’s not reaching it! I have available funds in my bank account at all times but yet, it does it every time . NEVER reaching my goals. And when I go to contact support, there’s delays through gmail and won’t let me connect, this is my only chance as resolving this issue. I set up a tax fund for 1 year and gave it a goal of $5000, it saved me a whopping $2,100 by the “end date” WHATS THE POINT OF A GOAL????? I’m so frustrated I pay for an app that saves my money however it wants.

Please add the ability to transfer between goals. For example, I have my rainy day fund that just builds up, allow me to transfer from rainy day fund to another goal. Other than that this app is great!

This app is amazing at saving money. It does small amounts to where you don’t notice but then two months in you already saved a few hundred bucks.

This app is nice until you realize that the transfers are not free and do not cost 99 cents. It states that the transfers to your account are a”standard transfers” which are 3-5 business days or “instant transfers” which cost 99 cents. However this is not the case. I transfer $200 dollars multiple times but only received $180 in my account. Charged 20 dollars for the transfer. I then transfer $500 and was charged $50. I only received $450 which I think is unfair due to the fact they say it’s 99 cents.

I have used this app for the last few years and have had great success saving some money. Now today suddenly there is a “fee” to use the app and it isn’t even a one time fee. Appears monthly of $5. Give me a break. All of my savings appear to be coming my way now because I didn’t agree to it or the fee. The greed. I hope other people catch on. I will figure out another way to save.

It’s a very easy way to save money. If I had to pull money out on my own, I’d never be able to do it! This has helped me! Also easy to transfer money back should you need to!

I have been using this for yeaarrssss!! And it has helped me a ton. Sometimes I even forget I have this set up and when I need money, this app already has a good sum saved for me. Has helped me in a lot of emergencies. It definitely works for whatever financial situation you’re in

Great way to save money

I close my checking account because of these people. But since I’m linked through plaid, they managed to lock on to my new checking account siting multiple security issues— I cannot unlink my account. I absolutely cannot unlink my account and they are continuing to sap my account for money into this savings account, which I no longer want to contribute. Any of their financial advice is something that you can get for free from Capital One or Wells Fargo or any major banking institution for absolutely free if you have a credit account or a checking account with them. There’s absolutely no reason to pay for this service— absolutely no reason!!!! There’s absolutely nobody that will get back to help you with Length of time, you have to send in a ticket and this is just going to be protracted over days and days and days of your life continue to take money out of your account, even though they have found a security issue with your account issue does not prevent you from closing your account or prevent Oportun from grotesquely an opportunistically rating your account so they can continue to put money in theirs. I cannot close my account yet. I cannot take the money out of my account and put it in my checking account. This is very convenient for them. HOW DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE. It’s just the most repulsive disgusting form of blatant theft I have yet seen. Stay away from these people !!!!

The company needs to make it so you can pause saves based off of account balance, not force you to transfer money back from your rainy day or other account. Like if the account reaches a minimum of say 1000 dollars just make it so you can pause saving until the account is back above that. Also they should make it so you can move money between accounts instead of having to take it all out then bring it back from your back account. Lastly they need to make it so you can edit your max saves per goal so you don’t have to delete it then create a new one. It’s just annoying and not super user friendly

I have used Oportun for a few years now and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to save a little extra money or to pay down debt. The app makes it super simple to connect your bank and transferring funds is quick and easy. If I need to pull money from my Oportun account, it is in my bank account the next day. The automated transfers make it great for people who have trouble saving. Great app!

When the app comes up, it is locked on one screen and I can’t click anything

I wish I could add more than one card to my account to withdraw money to but otherwise Oportun has been crazy helpful with saving!

I’ve been a customer since this app was called Digit and I will always use it! It effortlessly saves money for you and helps you reach savings goals! You can quickly withdrawal your funds if you need them and set as many goals as you need! You have to get this app!

Currently I have 1k somewhere in limbo. The money came out of my bank account, but is not in Oportun. If I had an emergency and needed that money I would be screwed because the app says i transferred but the money is not there. Been days since I initiated the transfer. My daughter also has the app. She tried to withdraw. Money came out of Oportun account and still didn’t deposit into her bank.
